Description

Hi,
Kindly attend below request:-

As you are aware , last year we have conduct hardware refreshment for our internet banking , however there are 1 pending item which is to setup HA on the OVM environment , our team have tried several time but it was futile due to several obstacle , hence we need some guidance from your end to steer this topic to safety ..

Challenges Encountered:

During the migration process, we encountered a significant challenge with certain applications. The requirement for a minimum of two hosts for Solaris Cluster operation necessitates a fundamental change in architecture for these applications. While the original server infrastructure consisted of a single host per application, the implementation of Solaris Cluster requires the deployment of two hosts for redundancy and failover capabilities.

This change in architecture poses a unique challenge as the licensing for these applications is hardcoded into the original server and tied to the MAC address[As per previous findings during the testing phase of P2V]. Consequently, while the Solaris Cluster setup can accommodate two hosts for redundancy, the application licenses can only be validated on one host, the original server.

Our question, can this issue be resolved through additional licenses or alternative configurations?

Please find the summary from the INFRA team as below.

Successfully Completed Tasks:

Migration P2V: The migration for the 5 servers from physical to virtual environments was executed without any major issues. This involved transferring the entire infrastructure onto virtual machines to optimize resource utilization and scalability.
Servers Migrated into New VM in Oracle T8 SPARC Server :

1. kfhib03 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03)

2. kfhib04 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd04)

3. kfhib05 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03)

4. kfhib06 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03 & kfhovmsrvprd04)

5. kfhib07 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03)

Solaris Cluster Setup: The Solaris Cluster setup for the aforementioned pair of servers has been successfully configured. This involved implementing redundancy and high availability in terms of IP Address, Data and Server.

Latest Active Architecture:

1. kfhib03 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03) Application Redundancy with kfhib04 [COMPLETED, Application Redundancy with Two Physical Server]

2. kfhib04 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd04) Application Redundancy with kfhib03 [COMPLETED, Application Redundancy with Two Physical Server]

3. kfhib05 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03) [Pending Solaris Cluster Setup]

4. kfhib06 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03 & kfhovmsrvprd04) [COMPLETED, with Solaris Cluster]

5. kfhib07 (Located in kfhovmsrvprd03) [Pending Solaris Cluster Setup]

Oracle support replied our enquiry where we are able to purchase the additional license for WebLogic, AquaLogic and Oracle DB 10G if we were to clone KFHIB05 & KFHIB07 to achieve High Availability. Quotation for the additional license will be prepare upon request submitted.
